52 Blessings Project Week #9

This week I am thankful for Modern Day Appliances. What would I do without my dishwasher and washing machine/dryer just to name two.
You wouldn't think a family of four would go through a lot of dishes but that dishwasher is full every single night! I'm so thankful I don't have to have "dishwasher hands" while washing dishes 24/7. I'm sure even Palmolive wouldn't have helped.

I'm also very, very thankful for my washing machine and dryer. I don't have one of those new fancy machines but the ones I do have work just fine for me. My Dad bought them for me when I bought my 1st house in college. I remember going to Sears and picking out the second to the cheapest set on the floor. I told the man to charge it to my Dads account but he made me call my Dad to get verbal permission. My Dad of course said yes after saying how much washers have gone up in price in the last 20 years! (He hadn't bought a new set in that long!) My Dad was so cute!
I was watching Little House on the Prairie with the girls the other day and realized I would not have liked cooking over a fire, sewing clothes by hand, not having a fridge/freezer, no running water and lets not forget the garbage disposal, microwave, kitchen aid, blender, and toaster!!!

Thank You appliances - I Love You and Appreciate You!!!!

I totally agree! I would not have made a good pioneer. Thank you for all my appliances!

Amen, Sister!!! I am currently reading a novel about a settler in Arizona and the things she has to do make me grateful every day that I am living in a time of modern conveniences.

Totally agree. Modern technology is the best. I hate doing dishes with a dishwasher, what would I have done without one? (probably complain a lot)

DITTO!!! I LOVE my modern-day conveniences!!! I have to run our dishwasher almost daily as well. I make everyone wash their dishes & then just use it for sanitizing, but still it's awesome!!! It would definitely be harder living in older times! :)

HERE HERE!!! i am right there with ya! spent 5 years washing dishes by hand in the little guest house on fairview. YUCK!!! i am grateful for modern conveniences!

i am reading the little house books with addie right now. how fun to explain all of those things to her and hear her start to understand a little what things must have been like. i would have hated it, but it's fun to help my "privileged" child learn that things haven't always been so easy.

Ah, yes, modern appliances!! We take so much for granted. They really are a blessing and give us so much more time to spend with family and do good!! Great blessing, Cara!!

Sorry to invade but I just jumped over to look at your blog from Natalie's. Too weird we have the same quote on top of our blogs! I haven't ever heard it quoted except from me!

I love appliances too. They're the best.

I couldn't agree more! In the early months with my twins, we went through so many bottles that I often did 2 loads of dishes a day...I handwashed them in the beginning but between major lack of sleep and dish pan hands, the dishwasher won out.

I think I'm going to cry. sniff, sniff

I don't have a W/D, or dishwasher. Or a garbage disposal! (Sometimes I feel like I live in the olden days.)

But, I promise that once I get them (someday?) I will never take them for granted again.
