The German Baby

Some friends of ours have five children.  Their baby has been nicknamed "The German".  He even has his own hashtag on Instagrm!  His Dad wanted to do a little photoshoot for his wife for mothers day and to document his 3rd birthday.  I suggested we use the vintage lederhosen I happen to have in my ceder chest at home.  All my brothers wore it when they were little because my Mom was into embracing our heritage.

So after much coaxing and bribing we got "The German" into the lederhosen for his 3rd Birthday pictures.

*He was excited that he was wearing a reindeer.*

 

Adorable!  He has my heart.  Those big blue eyes.  I could die from the cuteness.

Mothers Day

Yesterday I was spoiled rotten on Mothers Day.  

It was a perfect day.  

Wanna know what I did?

Breakfast in bed followed by

homemade cards, gifts and

a gift card to Old Navy for something summery.

Then I snuck in a little nap before church and

after church a took another nap!  

I told you I was spoiled rotten.

I then declared that I was staying in bed all day,

so the family made me a yummy dinner and 

a pink cake for their favorite Mom - me!

The best part is they cleaned up afterward and

showered me with love.

Yes, I feel special, I am lucky, blessed am I.

I did miss my Mom. 

The sadness is fading but the memories are still vivid and that's what counts.

She knows I love her and I know she loves me.

Mothers Day

A new sippy (my favorite one died in the dishwasher)
and my girls got me an Edward and Bella poster.
Oh yes they DID!!! Tom was laughing so hard. He said they just HAD to get it for me! I think I may hang it in my room just so they know how much I love them!!
(BTW - I'm pretty much over the whole Edward and Bella thing but my girls are so cute I just have to hang it!)

I was a little sad sitting in church missing my Mom but I just thought about how lucky I was to have her and how lucky I am to have a forever family. I miss her.

Tom's parents came over for dinner and he cooked my favorite dish of his. Yakisoba. DE-LISH!

I got spoiled and felt loved.
It was a great Mothers Day.

Monday Madness

I couldn't sleep last night. Oh the insanity!!! I have been sleeping very, very good lately. This is a first for me. So last night when I had such trouble I was bugged and hoped that my good sleeping habits weren't over. I think it was just hot and the three hour nap didn't help things. I'm crossing my fingers that it will be better tonight.

My Aunt Kathy has been here since Thursday. She came to see my Aunt Janet (these are my Mom's sisters) who has been sick and in the hospital for over a month! She's doing much better and has declared this to be "fight month!" She said she's going home this month! Yippee!

Aunt Kathy and I have had fun together. We have shopped, went out to lunch, had all the family over (cousins and all), had a Wii tournament, made two blankets for her to take home (one for a baby present and one just for her). She's fun to have around and since I don't have my Mom it's an extra special treat! The girls adore her and again - since no Grandma Goose (that's what they called my Mom) Auntie is the next best thing!

Yesterday I took pictures of my cute kiddos in my primary class. I'm hoping to be a little creative and make some kind of Mothers Day gift for their Mothers. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of something like this Book of Kisses. It looks a bit complex but I am hoping I may be able to simplify it. Send me your ideas if you have any!! When I told the kids what I was planning to do - put lipstick on them and have them kiss paper for their Mom's they thought that was hilarious!!! The giggles were priceless!

I did a few edits on the photo shoot I did on Wednesday. I'll have to post some. I was only the helper but I did get a few cute ones! That's always fun!

Today was Abby's teachers birthday. The room Mom had a brilliant idea. She sent home a note last week telling us parents that it was her birthday and to send in one flower with their child. She also enclosed a little piece of paper with a hole in the corner and a piece of ribbon to have the child write a note and tie it to the flower. When the kids got dropped off for school they each handed the teacher the flower (or in most cases flowerSSSS) She looked like Miss America with he big bunch of flower love!!!! What a great idea!!!!!! I just had to share♥

I'm off to make dinner. Beef Stew was the request. I have 6 loads of laundry to fold and put away and I need to mop the kitchen floor. Do you think if I get this all done I will be so tired that I will have NO trouble sleeping? Here's hoping!

52 Blessings Project Week 19

Today I am thankful that I am a Mother!

I feel so blessed to have two sweet little girls who are my dream come true.

Tom's Sunday Story:

Church is over. We all get in the car. It's hot, very hot in the car. Tom says he has to tell me something but I can't tell anyone. I told him he better not say anything with "the little ears" in the back seat if he doesn't want anyone to know. He said that's not a problem. So he starts:

He was sitting in EQ happy and content with his nice little Sunday. He was listening to the announcements, and realized about 30 seconds before they finished that he was the one that was supposed to give the lesson today. He also realizes that he doesn't know what lesson they are on, nor does he have his lesson manual. Fear strikes. Then, peace. He said to himself (in the 30 second window that he has before he has to get up in front of the whole EQ) "no problem right? I have been listening to conference talks 24/7 in the car for months!" I'll just pick one of those! Thanks to Matt he even has the latest April conference - all four sessions! Good thing, keep reading.

So he sat a moment more, thought and chose

He got up, gave the lesson without notes, book or copy of the Ensign. Just from memory. Wow! Is that a little bit of inspiration or what? When he told me that ,I looked at him and said, "that's what lesson we had! That's the lesson you were supposed to teach!"

I asked him if anyone had figured him out? He said no, they had a discussion, people commented, it went well. Little stinker. I would have died! I would have said I was going to throw up and went home! I don't mind giving talks or lessons in front of people but without warning? Nope, couldn't have done it.

So, note to self. Get some conference talks in my car so in case of emergency I don't go into the bathroom and heave my guts out!

side note: he said don't tell anyone and here I am blogging it! (giggle)
